It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to our website. Lokayat Shikshan Sanstha, Ahmedpur was founded in 1984 by Late Bhai Kishanrao Deshmukh, the great visionary leader, educationalist, and ex-revenue minister of Maharashtra State. Previous name of the institution was Lokamanya Senior College, Chakur which was later renamed as Bhai Kishanrao Deshmukh Mahavidyalaya, Chakur. Bhai Kishanrao Deshmukh Mahavidyalaya, Chakur run by Lokayat Shikshan Sanstha, Ahmedpur with its mission ‘Higher Education to Rural Masses’ is a multi-disciplinary grant in aid, co-educational rural college affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. The college was established in 1990. Ours is the first Arts and Commerce college in Chakur Tehsil area and has been working sincerely since its inception. We strongly believe that success comes from hard work, hence our motto is “तपसो प्राप्त्ये यशः” (Success comes through austerity).
The Institution is accredited with B++ with an 80.82 CGPA in 2004 and reaccredited with B grade CGPA 2.63 in 2014 by NAAC and we are on the way to get assessed and re-accredited by NAAC in 2023-24 for 3rd cycle. The Institution got ISO certification in 2024.
The college has been striving hard to provide higher education to the rural masses since last three and half decades. It was our dream to bring the rural masses into the mainstream of higher education. The college has been imparting value based education to rural and socio-economically backward students at affordable cost. At the time of establishment of college, there was no facility of higher education in the orbit of 40 kms from Chakur. Therefore, college was started with Arts and Commerce faculties. This college is an ‘oasis’ in the educationally backward region. Discipline, transparency, patriotism, inclusive development and promotion of scientific temper are some of the core values of our institution. Realizing the aim at New Education Policy-2020 we readily adopted it to overhaul and modernize India’s education system to make it more inclusive, holistic and globally competitive.
I am glad to mention that our sincere effort to provide higher education to rural masses has brought transformation in rural life. The college constantly supports the under privileged students from rural area belonging to socio economically backward classes. I am proud to have a great team of Faculty members and the entire zeal family. We have come a long way and still have miles to cover….
