Chakur is a small town and comes under Nagar Panchayat. It has been declared as a new Taluka in Latur District. It was separated from Ahmedpur Taluka in 1992. It is situated on Mumbai-Nagpur State highway No.361. Chakur town has a beautiful picnic spot,Sai Nandanvanam which is visited by the tourists from all over the country. It also has a training centre of the Border Security Force. Chakur is 40kms away from Latur and 30 kms away from Ahmedpur on the State highway.
