The President of Lokayat Education Society Ahmedpur, Hon.Bhai Kishanrao Deshmukh and its members understood the thirst of education of the people in this area and they sincerely tried to make available the opportunity of higher education to rural masses. Bhai Kishanrao Deshmukh Mahavidyalaya Chakur with its mission “ Higher Education to Rural Masses,’’ is a multi-disciplinary college established in 1990.The area in which the college is located is a drought prone, rural and educationally as well as socially backward area. Education to girls was mostly neglected by the society. Considering this crucial situation, Hon.Bhai Kishanrao Deshmukh established various educational units at Ahmedpur and Chakur. There was no facility of higher education in the orbit of 40kms from Chakur. Therefore, Lokmanya Sr. College Chakur (former name of this college), with Arts and Commerce faculties, was started. The main objective of this institution is to bring these socially disadvantaged, educationally backward people at par with others through education.
This college is an ‘oasis’ in the educationally backward region. Since its inception, it has come a long way establishing it as a credible torchbearer of educational movement in rural backward region. This college has been steadily working for the empowerment of women and the upliftment of backward communities. As a result of the purity of heart, sincerity of purpose and commitment to work, we can achieve our goals. This college is recognized by NAAC in 2004 by rating the college B++ grade with the score of 82.25% which is very rare for colleges coming under rural area in the state. Immediately after the assessment of the college by NAAC, the college formed IQA Cell as per the guidelines of NAAC in order to monitor overall functioning and quality substance of the college.
